What is investing?

Investing is a way of putting your money to work so it can grow over time. Instead of earning interest like savings, your money is invested in things like shares (small parts of companies) and bonds (loans to governments or businesses). 

Unlike savings, returns aren’t guaranteed, and investments can go up and down in value. But over the long term (5+ years), they usually offer higher growth potential.
