How can I set up a Direct Debit?

To set up a Direct Debit, you’ll need to share your account details with the company you want to make payments to. If you're switching a Direct Debit to Zopa, you can usually update your account details yourself through their website.

You can find your sort code and account number in the app. If you’re on your mobile, tap here and we’ll take you there.   

Or, follow these steps: 

  1. Open the Zopa app and tap into your Zopa account. 

  2. Select 'Manage' and then 'Account details'.

I’m having issues when setting up a Direct Debit. What should I do?

Some customers have reported issues setting up Direct Debits with some merchants due to the merchants not recognising the Zopa bank account. Please contact us if this has happened to you so that we can contact the merchant.

What happens if a Direct Debit doesn’t go through?

If a Direct Debit on your Biscuit account is missed, we won’t attempt to take it again. 

To keep things on track, you may need to make the payment directly to the company. 

Tip: If you’re not sure how to do this, it’s best to check with the company, as different businesses handle missed payments in different ways. 

How do I cancel a Direct Debit?

You can do this in the Zopa app, just follow these steps: 

  1. Open the Zopa app and tap the Payments tab.

  2. Select View all Direct Debits.

  3. Open the Direct Debit you’d like to cancel.

  4. Select Cancel Direct Debit and you’ll be guided through the process.

Please keep in mind:

  • You’ll need to cancel at least two working days before a Direct Debit is due to stop that upcoming payment being processed.

  • If you’re cancelling Direct Debits, you should contact the merchant you were paying to let them know. Not letting merchants know could have a negative impact on your credit file.
