How do I open a Biscuit bank account?
watch_laterUpdated 14 days ago
Opening a Biscuit bank account takes a few minutes, all from the Zopa app.
Am I eligible?
To apply, you'll need to be 18 or over, a UK resident, and not a US citizen. See Am I eligible to open a Biscuit bank account? for the full eligibility criteria.
How to apply
Download the Zopa app and create a Zopa account – or log in if you're already a Zopa customer.
From the app home screen, tap the option to apply for Biscuit.
Enter your personal details and answer a few eligibility questions.
Verify your identity. We accept a passport, driving licence, national ID card, or national residence permit (some restrictions apply on which types we can accept).
We'll run a soft credit check to help confirm your identity. This doesn't impact your credit score, and your score doesn't affect whether you're approved.
Once you're approved, your Biscuit bank account is ready to use in the app.
Then you can choose a benefit that's right for you – boost your balance with extra interest, get cashback on your Direct Debits, or earn cashback when you eat out. You can switch your benefit anytime in the app and it will take effect the next month.
What to expect
Your Biscuit account also comes with these perks as standard: 1% AER* (1% gross**) variable interest on your balance, a free barista-made drink every month at Caffè Nero, and fee-free spending abroad†.
Biscuit is free to open, with no monthly fees. Please note, if you opened a bank account during our beta phase, you're already part of Biscuit – there's no need to reapply.
*AER = Annual Equivalent Rate, variable – rates can go up or down.
**Gross = interest paid before tax is deducted.
†ATM withdrawal fees may still apply.
